Meeker Police Department
Location

The Meeker Police Department is responsible for enforcing all State and Municipal laws. The Meeker Police Department provides many services to the Town of Meeker, including: traffic enforcement, narcotics investigations, felony crime investigations, misdemeanor crime investigations and basic calls for service. The Meeker Police Department is active in school programs and strives to serve the community effectively and efficiently. The Meeker Police Department maintains an active K-9 unit, which provides many essential services to the Town. Officers of the Meeker Police Department, as well as the K-9 unit work with: DEA, Rio Blanco County Sheriff's Office, and other local agencies to fight the increasing drug problem on the Western Slope. The Police Chief, Lieutenant, and Police Officers work 10 hour shifts, four days per week, on a rotating schedule.
Bob Hervey, Chief of Police. Serves at the pleasure of the Board and is appointed after the Board of Trustee's election and Trustees have been sworn in, each even year. The Chief of Police supervises four officers, the animal control officer and the Department's part time secretary. He also performs day to day tasks such as enforcement of state and local laws, checking on elderly individuals of the community, performing vehicle inspections, searching for missing persons, and investigating alleged crimes. The Police Department provides a home watch program and numerous other services.
Lieutenant. Acts as Chief of Police in the Chief's absence, performs day to day tasks listed under Chief of Police. Writes the schedule for officers each month and coordinates tasks for the officers.
