Make A Difference Day is an event that helps to establish a sense of community spirit and caring for others, fosters volunteerism for all ages, and demonstrates the significant impact nonprofit agencies have on peoples’ lives in Larimer County.  Make A Difference Day provides a way for the community to give back in alternative ways and to demonstrate how we Live United.

You can show your support for community involvement by volunteering with coworkers, family and friends during the week of Make A Difference Day.  Over 70 local agencies in Larimer County will host meaningful service projects during the week and volunteers will be recruited to help meet these needs.

A sample of the projects throughout the week have included:

  • Rake leaves at senior homes at Volunteers of America and Meals on Wheels of Loveland
  • Painting at Elderhaus, Namaqua Center and Harmony House
  • Construct new playgrounds for the Fort Collins Housing Authority
  • Assemble parenting information packets at Bright Beginnings
  • Complete housekeeping projects at the Fort Collins Public Library
  • Register families with the “Angels Among Us” Christmas program at The Salvation Army
  • Trail and park maintenance at Educo, the City of Fort Collins Parks and Trees, Water & People
  • Landscaping at Habitat for Humanity, Consumer Credit Counseling & the Environmental Learning Center
  • Distribute breast cancer screening information for the Women’s Resource Center

Make a Difference Day Schedule

Monday, October 20th through Saturday, October 25th, 2008

Two shifts per day:  8am – 12pm and 1pm - 5pm.

These community-wide volunteer projects involve all groups of volunteers, including individuals, families, service clubs, faith-based organizations, schools, businesses and corporate volunteers (but not limited to these groups).  During the week, we encourage employees to get involved who are supported by their employers to take paid time off to complete community service volunteer projects.  Faith-based groups will be most active on Saturday.
